How to cleanse your face properly

Night Balms

Cleansing is the first and one of the most important steps of any skincare routine. It helps to unclog pores, prevent blemishes, sensitivity and dehydrated skin. With so much riding on it, and a whole world out there of gel, foaming and cream formulas, knowing which cleanser works best for your skin type and where to start isn’t easy. Well, until now…

The best cleanser for your face cleansing routine

For combination, oily and blemish-prone skin

Clay cleansers are suited to oily and combination skin types as they’re excellent at absorbing excess oil and mattifying the skin. As well as working on a surface level removing dirt and oil, they can draw out impurities from deep within your pores to help them appear tighter.

Decléor’s Rosemary Black Clay Cleansing Gel combines the anti-blemish efficacy of rosemary essential oil with salicylic acid and black clay to deeply cleanse your skin and unclog pores. Its gel texture transfers into a soft foam when mixed with water to purify skin and leave it looking less oily, smoother and healthier. Lather and massage on your face in circular motions before using your hands or a soft washcloth soaked in warm water to rinse.

For dry skin

If your skin is naturally drier, or just experiencing a touch of dehydration, it can be difficult to know how to cleanse your face. The trick is to add products packed with hydrating ingredients like hyaluronic acid, botanical oils and glycerin to your cleansing routine.

Gentle, no-rinse cleansers are not only more time-efficient but they can help to clean skin without stripping the surface of moisture and essential natural oils.

Neroli Bigarade Facial Cleansing Milk’s formula enriched with a combination of active ingredients – green tea essential water, sweet almond oil and neroli essential oil – helps to remove dirt and tighten pores while also protecting skin from dehydration. Apply with a damp cotton pad before gently massaging your face and neck in circular movements (if you hadn’t guessed, massage is one of our favourite face cleansing steps). This cleansing milk has been proven to increase your skin’s hydration levels in just one hour.

For normal skin

Don’t be fooled by micellar water’s simple appearance. Although it may look like ordinary water, this lightweight no-rinse cleanser, which works on all skin types, has tiny micelles that not only cleanse skin of makeup and dirt but tone it, too.

Decléor’s gentle and fragrance-free Rose Damascena Soothing Micellar Water is expertly formulated to soothe and purify even sensitive skin types. Simply swipe over your face with a cotton pad and it’s your rinse-free cleanser, eye make-up remover and toner in one.
