Not just a beautiful plant to admire, Iris Essential Oil has a multitude benefits. Used for centuries and still just as relevant today, here’s all you need to know about Iris Oil in aromatherapy.

What is Iris Essential Oil used for?

  • Lifting: Iris Essential Oil has unparalleled abilities. Research has shown that the active plant cells in Iris Oil help renew and re-energise the epidermis to leave your skin looking tighter, firmer and more youthful.
  • Toning: If anti-ageing is your primary concern, then Iris Oil will be ideal. As we age, our skin can start to look dull and lacklustre, but Iris Essential Oil works to detoxify the skin as well as helping the epidermis to appear tightened, to transform your complexion.
  • Nourishing: Iris Essential Oil contains potent moisturising properties to soften and plump the complexion. Whether your skin is dry or oily, Iris Oil injects hydration into the epidermis to nourish and renew.

To give your skin a burst of youthful energy, Frankincense Oil is also highly effective at reducing the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles.

Benefits of Iris Essential Oil

  • Antibacterial: Iris Essential Oil has potent antimicrobial properties, which not only kill bacteria but also inhibit its growth. Ideal for topical use, Iris Oil protects the epidermis.
  • Detoxifying: A build-up of waste in our bodies can lead to a weakened immune system, excess water retention and problematic skin. Use Iris Oil to detoxify, flushing out toxins to leave your body feeling free to breathe.
  • Astringent: When used topically, Iris Essential Oil has the ability to contract the epidermis, to soothe skin and minor injuries.

If your skin is especially irritated, Rose Oil natural compounds to calm your skin.

Where does Iris Essential Oil come from?

The Iris originated in Southern Europe, with Iris Essential Oil still cultivated to this day in Italy as well as Morocco.

With around 300 species of the Iris plant, varying slightly depending on its geographical location, finding the best Iris Essential Oil for your needs is important.

History of Iris Essential Oi

  • Egyptian heritage: The ancient Egyptians cherished the Iris flower, believing that it symbolised power and majesty.
  • A colourful origin: Iris takes its name from the Greek word for ‘Rainbow’, also referring to the Greek goddess of the rainbow, Iris.
  • A royal plant: During the middle ages, the Iris plant became synonymous with the French monarchy. The national symbol of France, the Fleur-de-lis, is based on the figure of the Iris to symbolise royalty and heritage.
  • The ultimate environment: Although diverse in ecology, the iris is predominantly found in dry, semi-desert, mountainous regions.
  • An intriguing process: Contrary to the majority of Essential Oils, such as Chamomile Oil and Jasmine Oil, Iris Essential Oil is cultivated from the root, not the flowers.

In fact, it’s so important that the Egyptians placed Iris on the brow of the Sphinx and on their king’s sceptres to signify faith, wisdom and valour.

Facts about Iris Essential Oil

Furthermore, in order to create Iris Absolute Oil, the iris roots must be stored for up to 4 years before extraction takes place.

Adopt Iris Essential Oil to rejuvenate your mind, body and skin to look and feel younger than ever.

Eucalyptus Essential Oil

Instantly refreshing and revitalising, Eucalyptus Essential Oil has been around for hundreds of years. Native to Australia, this potent element has a myriad of benefits for your mind, body and health.

Here’s all you need to know about Eucalyptus Oil in aromatherapy.

If your skin leans dry, look to Sandalwood Oil and Neroli Oil to provide your complexion with extra hydration.

Benefits of Eucalyptus Essential Oil

  • Helps fight infection: ‘Eucalyptol’ is Eucalyptus Oil’s primary component and has been shown to have antimicrobial effects.

  • Anti-inflammatory: Whether used internally or externally, Eucalyptus Oil works to reduce inflammation and provide natural pain relief. Other Essential Oils such as Chamomile Oil also have potent anti-inflammatory properties.

  • Soothe headaches: Eucalyptus Essential Oil can reduce sinus pressure, which can often be responsible for the pain and tension that can cause headaches. Furthermore, Eucalyptus Oil also promotes relaxation of tense facial muscles which can also contribute to headaches caused by stress or exhaustion.

Where does Eucalyptus Essential Oil come from?

There are over 600 species of Eucalyptus, but only 20 types produce enough Essential Oil for commercial use. Eucalyptus Essential Oil is extracted from Eucalyptus Globulus.

Eucalyptus Oil is extracted from the fresh or partially dried leaves of the plant and the young twigs through a process of steam distillation.

History of Eucalyptus Essential Oil

  • A widespread medicine: It was initially suggested by a German botanist and explorer that the scent of the Eucalyptus tree might be an antiseptic.

Facts about Eucalyptus Essential Oil

  • A floral name: The ‘eu’ and ‘kalypto’ in the word mean ‘well’ and ‘covered’ in Greek. This refers to the delicate membrane that covers the flower bud, which falls off as the flower grows.
  • See right through: You can, in fact, see the oil in a Eucalyptus leaf. If you hold it up to the light, you can see tiny pricks of white or yellow, which is the Eucalyptus Essential Oil in the tissue of the leaf.

At-home facial: 1-minute Facial Lift Massage technique

FACIAL LIFT YOGA: PROLAGENE LIFT CONTOURING LIFT FIRM MASK

Massaging your face on a regular basis can help to get the blood moving thereby improving circulation and reducing facial tension. Nichola Joss, Decléor skincare ambassador, is a huge advocate of facial massage, stating as one of her golden skincare rules:

“Teach yourself quick and effective facial massage techniques and practice them daily to naturally enhance your contours and give your skin a glow.” (Read the full blog post here)

Combine facial massage with one of our Hero products: Prolagene Lift Contouring Lift Firm Mask, an anti-ageing 1-minute flash mask for firmer, more radiant skin.

After cleansing, apply the Decléor Prolagene Lift Contouring Lift Firm Mask, with our simple, four-step massage routine:

First, focus on the jawline. With your hands either side of the chin, use your thumb and index finger to sculpt and contour. Place your thumb just under the jawline and the index finger just on top of the jawline. The pressure between your thumb and your index finger should be firm. Push them towards each other whilst gliding outwards. As you sweep towards the ears, cover all of the muscles. You should do this for 10 seconds.

Next, with your hands flat, work on the right cheek first. Using firm pressure, start at the chin and lift upwards, gliding towards the temple. As the palm of your hand sweeps up, tuck under the cheekbone to get the perfect lift. Your hands should follow each other alternately, for 10 seconds.

Then, with your hands still flat and one hand on each cheek, press into the skin. Hold firm for one second, then release. Make sure to lift the face upwards as you press into the skin. Repeat this movement for 10 seconds.

Finaly, place your fingertips on your forehead, in line with your nose. Applying firm pressure to the skin, smooth out wrinkles by pressing into the skin. WHY, WHEN, HOW: DECLEOR’S FACE MASK 101

Why should I use a face mask?

What everyone loves most about masking is the instant boost, glow and immediate on-the-spot results but masks can also give long-term results when incorporated into your regular skin care routine.

The best way to understand how a mask works is to think of them as supplements for your skin. Your skin maybe lacking certain vitamins that it requires or maybe your skin needs a boost of extra nutrients to give you the glowing radiant complexion you are looking for.

So you maybe be thinking, should I bother using a face mask if I already have good skin? And if so, at what point in my routine should I mask, how often, and what type of mask should I use? We have the answers!

When should I use a face mask?

Many people ask, how often should I apply a face mask? To receive optimal benefits you should use a face mask 2-3 times a week. With busy lifestyles, we know that masking isn’t always on the top of your priority list and Decléor has created instant 1-minute flash masks and sleeping masks to suit all your lifestyles.

How can I make the most of my face mask?

Start with clean skin-For the best results we suggest using a mask after a bath or shower when your pores are open - this will allow the mask to work at its best by penetrating deeper into your skin.

Exfoliate beforehand-Use Decléor’s Phytopeel Face Exfoliator before applying your mask. This will better help the ingredients to absorb into your skin more effectively when dead skin is removed first.

Apply & Rinse – Apply the mask and leave on for as long as instructed. Rinse with luke warm water.

Tone and moisturize- For optimal results, apply a toner and then moisturise. The right toner will help your skin lock in all the benefits of the mask. Additionally, it will help your moisturiser to penetrate deeper into the skin.

Which face mask should I use?

Finding a mask that best suits your skin type can be overwhelming with many mask products on the market… Trust us, we feel you! Many masks may seem to have overlapping benefits so to simplify this for you we have broken down masking into three easy to understand categories.

Anti-Ageing

Hydrating & Plumping

Radiance

Soothing

If fine lines and wrinkles are worrying you, a smoothing, firming face mask will do just the trick. Many anti-ageing face masks included ingredients such as Hyaluronic Acid and Vitamin C for its antioxidant properties, for stimulating collagen and brightening the skin.

Why not try:

Prolagene Lift Contouring Lift & Firm Mask – The perfect 1 minute flash mask for firmer, more radiant skin.

Orexcellence Energy Concentrate Youth Mask – The perfect mask to re-energise the skin for a fresh, youthful and luminous glow.

No matter how much moisturiser we lather on, skin sometimes still feels dry. That's because we often need something that will penetrate our skin more deeply to effectively hydrate and restore your skin.

We also know hydration is key to fresh, younger looking skin and face masks are the perfect way to rejuvenate your skin giving it a natural, healthy looking glow.

For dry skin, enter: the hydrating face mask.

Why not try:

Do you suffer from dull, uneven and tired looking skin ? Well an instant radiance boost is what you need. Radiance face masks deeply cleanse, exfoliate and brighten dull, lifeless skin leaving skin glowing with natural radiance.

The most important thing is to listen to what your skin is telling you and adapt your face mask routine accordingly.

The Benefits of Organic Beauty: Harmonie Calm

As we grow ever more conscious of our lifestyle decisions, developing an awareness of the origins of our beauty products is a natural next step. As consumers, we have the ability to shop with integrity and purpose. This paves the way for a 'clean beauty' trend, where we are mindful of the products we use and the ingredients they contain. Also, as the largest organ in the body, our skin needs to be treated with love.

Organic is a word that is thrown about a lot. But, what does organic actually mean?

In short, the Soil Association describes organic as "working with nature, not against it". Organic products are those that are produced without the use of chemical fertilisers, pesticides or other artificial chemicals. They contain ingredients from organic farming and are sourced and manufactured using sustainable methods.

So, what does this mean for beauty?

Organic beauty products hold sustainably sourced ingredients, ethical production and transparent manufacturing processes at the forefront.

How do beauty products get organic certification?

Ecocert certified product:

• The product must have no GMO, parabens, phenoxyethanol, nanoparticles, silicon, PEG, synthetic perfumes and dyes or animal-derived ingredients (unless naturally produced by them such as milk or honey)
• The packaging must be fully biodegradable or recyclable
• A minimum of 95% of all plant-based ingredients in the formula and a minimum of 10% of all ingredients by weight must come from organic farming.

Cosme BIO certified product:

• The origin of the raw materials must promote ethical and sustainable sourcing
• The production must use gentle andnon-polluting processing methods
• Production of the final product must include a clean method of storage, transportation & all waste products must be disposed of using environmentally friendly methods.
• A minimum of 95% of all plant-based ingredients in the formula and a minimum of 10% of all ingredients by weight must come from organic farming.

What are the benefits of organic beauty products?

• Nature, ethics and the environment: it is widely acknowledged that organic farming is better for wildlife, causes lower pollution from sprays and produces less dangerous waste. Organic certification requires production that is respectful of living beings and the environment and even requires the transport of organic beauty products to be environmentally friendly. Shopping for organic beauty products means your daily beauty choices can help support the sustainability of our planet!

• Health and wellbeing: the skin is a living, breathing organ (the largest in our body). It's easy to forget that most of what we put on our skin is absorbed into our body. Switching to organic beauty is a great way to boost our wellbeing by decreasing the toxic load in our bodies.

• Sensitivity & skin benefits: Sensitive skin often requires simplifying beauty routines, eliminating excessive products and ingredients. Since organic products encourage natural origins, sensitive skin will be grateful!

Changing your skincare routine with the seasons

From Snowstorms to Heat Waves: Changing your skincare routine with the seasons

From snowstorms in mid-March to England’s longest heatwave in five years, the last thing you’re probably thinking about is how you should be modifying your skincare routine.

This summer has reached record high temperatures for an unusually long period of time. This means your skin has been experiencing weather that it is not necessarily used to, including hot and humid environments to refreshingly cool air-conditioned spaces. So, what has this been doing to your skin and how should you go about protecting it?

Humidity increases the amount of sweat produced and released on to the skin, which can cause oiliness. Open pores increase the collection of dirt, oil and pollution particles, which can aggravate the skin. All of this can cause breakouts, eczema and even allergic reactions. If this isn’t bad enough for your skin, spending time in air-conditioned rooms also has its impacts. Air-conditioning reduces water levels in the outer layer of the skin, reducing its elastic properties, causing dryness. Sun damage has the biggest effect, drastically ageing skin, resulting in dark spots, dryness and wrinkles.

As a result of this, the first and foremost stage of your skincare routine should be cleansing. It is crucial to wash away any impurities and excess oil. Decléor's Aroma Cleanse 3 in 1 Hydra Radiance Cleansing Mousse is the perfect way to do so, leaving skin beautifully clean, smooth and plump.

To prepare your skin for sun exposure, use the Aromessence Solaire Face Oil Serum.

Before exposing your skin to the sun, it is crucial to apply an SPF cream. An ideal product for the height of summer is the Aroma Sun Expert Protective Anti-Wrinkle Cream SPF 30 Face. Not only does it protect from UVA and UVB rays, it also prevents premature ageing.

Nobody really wants to be reminded that this scorching summer will come to an end at some point. However, as it does, temperatures and humidity levels will drop and the heating gets turned on. But, what does this do to your skin, and how can you protect it?

Throughout winter, your skin faces cold spells, icy winds and heating. Similar to summer, the drastic changes in temperatures from simply walking out of your warm house into crisp winter air has negative effects on your skin. Whether you crank the heating up inside or sit by a roaring fire, you expose your skin to very dry heat, leaving it in need of some serious TLC.

Yes, it is still crucial to cleanse your skin in winter, however, the most important step in your skincare routine should be moisturising. As a result of colder weather and dry heat, it is often wise to use a richer moisturising cream to repair dryness and prevent against further damage. Decléor’s hero, Hydra Floral Anti-Pollution Hydrating Rich Cream has moisture-boosting active ingredients to nourish your skin. For extra hydration, and optimal results, pair with an Aromessence Serum to suit your skin type. Aromessence Serums penetrate the skin to help nourish and restore skin for long lasting results.

But it’s not all doom and gloom: the sun doesn’t disappear altogether in winter. So, remember to apply an SPF 15 cream to protect your skin from the winter sun.

Which Essential Oil is best for my skin type? | DECLÉOR UK

There is a lot of buzz around Essential Oils but what are they and why do you need them in your skincare routine?

What are Essential Oils?

Essential Oils are small but very powerful compounds - one single drop of Essential Oil contains 150 botanical actives.

Where do Essential Oils come from?

Essential Oils come from plants. They are grown in the heart of the plant but only 1 in 10 plants can produce them. They help the plant avoid disease, heal and defend themselves.

Why are Essential Oils good for my skin?

Because Essential Oils are only grown from the fittest of plants, they are incredibly powerful and are known to have the ability to penetrate the deeper layers of the skin that other chemical compounds can’t. They are highly volatile and lipophilic and have an incredible affinity to the skin. So, it’s not just the skin of today that is benefitting, but the skin of tomorrow too.

Which Essential Oils are right from my skin?

To find the right Essential Oils for your skin type, you first need to understand what your skin goal is; are you looking for glow, to reduce blemishes, or to target signs of ageing? At Decléor, we have Aromessence Oil Serums, each with their own specific blend of Essential Oils, to target specific skin needs:

Essential Oils for Oily Skin

Oily skin is caused by overproduction of sebum and it’s a common myth that using an oil-based serum will make your skin more greasy. Over-cleansing and using products that strip the skin will actually cause your skin to become oilier as the skin works to replace the lost oil. Try our Aromessence Ylang Cananga Oil Serum twice a day with Ylang Ylang Essential Oil to reduce shine, improve skin texture and reduce blemishes.

Essential Oils for Dehydrated Skin

Dehydrated skin affects most women at some time in the year. Often, your moisturiser works in the morning but by lunchtime, your skin can start to look dry again. Try our Aromessence Neroli Amara Oil Serum to lock in hydration all day long, with Essential Oils of Sweet Orange this serum is clinically proven to protect against the signs of pollution whilst leaving your skin with a glow.

Essentials Oils for First Signs of Ageing

Our skin starts to age at about 25 years old, with the loss of collagen starting from 30 years old. It can be hard to know what to do when you start to see the lines and wrinkles appearing but it is important to target these signs of ageing when they first appear. Try our Aromessence Mandarine Oil Serum with Mandarine Essential Oil to target the first signs of ageing.

Essential Oils for Ageing skin

At certain times of the year and as we age, our skin can start to lose its plumpness and not feel as tight as it used to. Our Aromessence Lavandula Iris Oil Serum contains two key Essential Oils to counteract the loss of firmness: Lavendin Essential Oil to stimulate youth, limit collagen degradation & boost collagen; and elastin synthesis and Iris Absolute to reduce the cell degradation.

Essential Oils for Advanced Signs of Ageing

Many different factors can cause your skin to age, from genetics to environmental factors such as the sun, smoking, being outside in the elements, air conditioning and lack of hydration, all of which can cause your skin to age at different rates. Skin ageing is caused by a loss of collagen in the skin and Essential Oils can help to re-start the collagen production revive dull skin. Our Aromessence Magnolia Oil Serum contains Essential Oils to counteract the effects of ageing: Magnolia which initiates collagen production; Peony which works to re-plump the skin; and Lychee which reduces inflammation to revive rosy skin.

A Day in the Life of a Hydration Hero | DECLÉOR UK

Our busy lifestyles can take a toll on our skin, body and mind, and it is often our hydration levels that take the biggest hit. It takes a little more than a quick cleanse and moisturise to truly hydrate your skin, but we forget to build in the time to ensure we are fully hydrated. Worry not, Decléor are here to help and hydrate. Take a peek at a day in the life of a Decléor Hydration Hero to see how you can make small yet mighty tweaks to your lifestyle.

7am: Time to get up. I drink a large glass of water as soon as I wake up. I often pop a bottle of water in the fridge overnight with a few slices of fruit in (Lime and mint is my favourite!). The flavours infuse overnight, making the water a lot more appetising and refreshing.

7am: After a shower, it’s time to prep my skin for the day ahead. After cleansing, I use Decléor’s Neroli Amara Aromessence before moisturising. The serum is 100% natural and contains essential oils from the Neroli Amara flower, fruit, leaves and twigs for triple efficiency. My skin is hit with hydration. I then use Hydra Floral Rich cream on top for the ultimate power duo.

7am: Now my skincare routine is complete, I mix a few drops of my Neroli Amara Aromessence into my foundation to give my skin an extra glow.

8am: I’m running late, so breakfast will just have to be grab and go. Luckily, I’ve already prepared a big bowl of fruit salad for the week that I can pop in Tupperware. Upping your fruit intake is an easy way to increase your hydration levels as they are a great source of electrolytes and fluids.

9am: I arrive at work. Dehydration affects 95% of the population. For that reason, today I’m doing hydration tests around the office to increase awareness of the impacts of dehydration.

10am: I’m already feeling a little thirsty, so I keep a large bottle of water on me at all times.

1pm: My favourite part of the day –lunch time. If you don’t have time to prepare lunch, make sure you are still making smart choices. Reach for salads that contain nutrient and water rich foods like spinach, romaine lettuce, and cucumber. This doesn’t mean your food has to be boring – use the greens as a base to the foods that you enjoy. My lunch for today is a bed of spinach and cucumber, topped with roasted butternut squash, chick peas, and chorizo.

4pm: I’m beginning to feel tired, but the day is far from over. In times like this, I reach for my trusty bottle of Neroli Amara Aromessence once again. I apply 3 drop to my fingertips, inhale deeply to sooth my sense, and then gently tap across my face. Another hit of hydration, a treat for my sense, and my makeup even looks refreshed.

7:30pm: A quick H.I.T. session at the gym has got my heart racing. I reach for a banana before my workout to give me energy, and sip on water throughout.

8pm: Dinner time. I stick to a basic principle that half of my plate should be full of vegetables. Most vegetables have a high level of water content and therefore sticking to this principle will increase your water intake for any meal you desire.

10pm: Time to unwind. I cleanse my face, and follow with the Decléor Neroli Amara Night Balm. It has a calming scent which is perfect for relaxing the senses before you sleep. This 100% natural nourishing balm dissolves into the skin to comfort even the driest of skins.

3 Tips to Prepare your Skin to Make the Most of the Sun | DECLÉOR UK

The sunny days have finally returned… and with them, the happy days! There are plenty of reasons why we love the sun. The moderate exposure to sunlight actually boosts the level of serotonin, helping to improve the mood. It also provides vitamin D to the skin which is essential for binding calcium in bone. Finally (and maybe most of all), sun exposure can give the skin a beautiful sun-kissed glow. Yet, sun exposure can also cause skin damage and premature ageing. To make sure your skin makes the most of sun exposure while being protected, it is important to prepare it properly. Here is some advice.

TIP 1 – Before sun exposure, start stimulating your tanning ability

The sun emits UVA and UVB rays that are not filtered out by the planet’s ozone layer. As a consequence, they reach the skin tissue, stimulating one of the body’s natural defence mechanisms against UV rays - the synthesis of melanin. This phenomenon is what is responsible for skin coloration and tan.

Thing is: when the skin has not been exposed to the sun for some time, it has a very low level of melanin, which implies it is much harder for the skin to defend itself from the UV rays. To prepare your skin for sun exposure - at least one week before going on holidays, start stimulating your melanin synthesis and natural tanning to avoid sunburn and sun pigmentation. To do so, Décleor’s Aromessence Solaire Face Oil Serum (100% natural) is your perfect ally. This serum contains active ingredients such as Camomile and Geranium essential oils to boost the skin’s natural defences, as well as Carrot Essential Oil to stimulate melanin production. The Argan and Rose Essential Oils will also help reduce dehydration and preserve youthful-looking skin. Suitable for all skin types, apply this serum to the face and neck after cleansing, at least one week ahead of sun exposure and also during sun exposure underneath your protective sun cream, to ensure a perfect, glowing tan.

TIP 2 – Exfoliate your skin

Another good way to prepare your skin is to exfoliate your body before sun exposure to remove the dead cells that would prevent your skin from getting a uniform tanning.

For the face, Décleor’s Life Radiance Double Scrub contains three types of naturally exfoliating particles to remove dullness and restore radiance and vitality to the skin: Egyptian Luffa Fibres to gently buff away dead skin cells, Madagascan Cardamom Seeds to revive luminosity and Jojoba Beads to leave skin feeling soft and silky. For a milder face exfoliation, use Décleor’s Phytopeel Exfoliating Cream: with no exfoliating particles, it gently absorbs, eliminates impurities and renews your skin.

To exfoliate your body, use Décleor’s 1000 Grain Body Exfoliator. Enriched with Grapefruit Essential Oil and a combination of Pearl Sugar, Argan Shell and Orange Peel with Fruit Acids (Grape, Pineapple and Passion Fruit), our innovative gel turns into an indulgent oil during massage for easy application, and then turns into a milk upon contact with water for quick rinsing. Your skin is left feeling softer, smoother and refined, and your mind is invigorated, ready for holidays.

TIP 3 – Hydrate and nourish your skin

Hydrating your skin is very important after sun exposure but also before. A moisturising cream will not protect your skin from the sun, but it will help limit its damages. Indeed, dry skin is more likely to get sunburned as it is more vulnerable to UV rays. By deeply moisturising and nourishing your skin with a body lotion or cream before sun exposure, you will help to reconstruct its protective layer. Aroma Confort Systeme Corps Moisturising Body Milk envelops your skin in a comforting and protective layer of moisture to not only re-hydrate the skin, but also improve skin elasticity and firmness enhancing the overall appearance of your skin.

Extra tip: before going on holidays, use Aroma Confort Systeme Corps Gradual Glow Body Milk to intensely nourish your skin while gradually tanning your body. It contains naturally active ingredients like Magnolia Essential Oil to help protect your skin from free radicals and Narcissus Bulb to help prolong a natural or fake tan and preserve the skin’s youthful appearance. DHA – a sugar obtained by biotechnology – reacts naturally with amino acids in the skin to produce a gentle golden colour. Your skin will be perfectly prepared for the holidays: intensely moisturised with a radiant top-to-toe golden glow.

When your skin is ready to make the most of the sun - during your first days of holiday, it is important to expose your skin progressively – during several short exposures. The first time you expose your skin to the sun should not last more than one hour. And don’t forget: during sun exposure, it is important to protect your skin with the highest level of protection to keep it healthy, evenly toned, and younger looking and protect it from sun damages. Enjoy your holidays!

#FACEFACTS THIS SUMMER WITH DECLÉOR’S NEW POWERFUL PROTECTION AGAINST POLLUTION

Decléor launches NEW anti-pollution skincare range and professional facial treatment in collaboration with Nichola Joss, as part of our #FaceFacts campaign to protect skin from increasing pollution levels.

As the environment becomes more polluted, research is starting to reveal the potential health damage it is causing. At the start of 2017, it took London only five days to exceed its annual air pollution target (1). External factors such as pollution and UVs has been shown to clog the skin and cause premature ageing, as well as irritation, dehydration and uneven skin tone. Already 56% of women believe it’s necessary to protect their skin from pollution to prevent premature ageing(1). And with 62% UK women suffering from dehydrated skin(6), and £1 in every £5 spent on hydrating moisturizers(7), it is no wonder that pollution is one of the leading concerns when it comes to skin care.

We’re introducing two new targeted anti-pollution skin care products, a light day cream and eye gel – both powered by an innovative new ingredient, Baicalin, sourced from crystal clear lakes in China, known to protect against pollution and oxidation on the skin. Alongside the new skincare product innovation, Decléor spas nationwide will launch an anti-pollution facial designed in collaboration with Nichola Joss, for protection, hydration and radiance.

NEW DECLÉOR HYDRA FLORAL MOISTURE SHIELD ANTI-POLLUTION FACIAL

Designed by Decléor Skincare Expert, Nichola Joss, this signature facial uses three types of facial massage to help remove the harmful and ageing signs of pollution from the skin. The unique lymphatic drainage technique that Nichola is famed for, work to remove toxins and pollution from deep within your pores as well as on the surface, leaving skin deeply hydrated, glowing and radiant. Nichola feels passionately about the skin suffocation from pollution occurring daily to consumers in the UK, causing breakouts, congestion, dullness, slowing down oxygen levels and impacting cell renewal. This facial is Nichola and Decléor’s answer to protecting and replenishing the skin, while we clean up our air.

RRP £75 for 75 mins the Decléor Boutique & Day Spa and nationwide from June 2018

#FACEFACTS ON POLLUTION

Pollution is THE BUZZ-WORD when it comes to skin care. But what do we really mean by this and how does it affect the skin? When we talk about pollution we mean the particles and chemicals found in the air around us. These pollutants can build up on the skin and even penetrate through the upper layers. They can range from dirt, dust and everyday debris to airborne chemicals emitted from cars to cows! Some key offenders:

Polycyclic Aromatic Hydro- carbons (PAHs),

• Nitrogen oxides (NOx)

Particulate matter (PM) in different size and composition,

Ozone (O3) on the ground level and

• Cigarette smoke

These particles are likely to stay on the skin until you cleanse. What's worse is that they can stick to the skin, its oils and of course creams and makeup to form a polluted film across the skin which suffocates cells resulting in:

DULL SKIN, ACNE & BLOCKED PORES: Dirt & grime accumulate on the skin forming a fine layer of debris for dull skin, less able to breathe.

IRRITATION & DRYNESS: Damaging the skin barrier or reducing the natural balance of the skin to function optimally, leads to irritated skin, dryness, discomfort but also eczema in more serious cases.

LESS PROTECTION: Pollution cause free radicals, they attack the skin cells and prevent the cells working in the way they should, causing a depletion of the natural antioxidants.

UNEVEN SKIN TONE AND PIGMENTATION: Some of the pollution chemicals and particles act on the melanocytes that increase the production of melanin in the skin, leading to uneven skin tone and dark spots.

LINES AND WRINKLES: They also interact with our cells, damaging collagen and worsen the lines and wrinkles on the skin.

  • A colourful origin: Iris takes its name from the Greek word for ‘Rainbow’, also referring to the Greek goddess of the rainbow, Iris.

What is Eucalyptus Essential Oil used for?

  • Heal: Eucalyptus Essential Oil’s anti-inflammatory, antibacterial and analgesic properties make this powerful element a natural healer. When used topically, Eucalyptus Oil provides the optimal environment and elements to help repair and strengthen the complexion.
  • Purify: Rich in 1,8 cineole, this active ingredient present in Eucalyptus Essential Oil is known for its antibacterial properties.
  • Nourish: Eucalyptus Oil is known to moisturise the skin. Not only does it deliver an intense dose of hydration, but it also locks in moisture to help your complexion glow.

To this end, Eucalyptus Oil can help cleanse the epidermis, ridding the pores of harmful impurities that can contribute to breakouts, pigmentation and dull skin. The result is a complexion that is purer and healthier.

  • Boost mental clarity: Thanks to its invigorating, soothing and awakening properties, Eucalyptus Oil is often used to boost energy and mental clarity.

  • Otherwise known as…: Eucalyptus Essential Oil from the Eucalyptus Globulus is also known as Tasmanian Blue Gum.

Similarly, if you crush the leaf in your fingers, you can immediately smell the invigorating aroma of Eucalyptus Oil.

Adopt the revitalising Eucalyptus Essential Oil in your daily rituals, and rejuvenate your skin, body and health.

Restore your radiance with 3 in 1 Hydra-Radiance Cleansing Mousse

To start the morning off right for your skin, our 3 in 1 Hydra-Radiance Cleansing Mousse, with its champagne bubbles, cleanses the skin perfectly without drying or stripping the skin. It contains a fruit enzyme to buff and polish the skin to restore its radiance, and finishes with an intensive hydration boost thanks to the Hyaluronic Acid. Because it’s a wash, you can use it in the shower and simply rinse with water, enjoying glowy, refreshed skin every morning.

No morning skincare routine is complete without using Decléor’s iconic Duo Concept. The duo concept comprises of treating all the layers of your skin right down to the dermis where your collagen and elastin are housed – we do this by first applying one of our famous Aromessence Serums after cleansing. Aromessence Neroli Amara Oil Serum is a Top 5 product that hydrates the skin and helps to decongest. Complete your duo concept by applying your Decléor moisturiser over the top, in this case, Hydra Floral Everfresh Hydrating Light Cream. Pollution is known to dehydrate the skin and leave the skin dull and lifeless.

We have restored our radiance, hydrated and protected our skin. Now, it’s time to get ready for sleep. At Decléor, we take our night time routine just as seriously as our daytime one, and our two remaining Top 5 products have got you covered. Once you have removed your make-up and cleansed, we have the perfect ‘I-have-no-time-for-a-face-mask’ face mask.

Maintaining this pressure, glide out towards the temples and continue for 20 seconds. Fiona Brackenbury, Decléor Education Director says “It’s like you’re trying to iron out the wrinkles”!

So, what are you waiting for? Build this simple 1-minute facial massage into your skincare routine for firmer and more radiant skin.

Hydra Floral Ultra Moisturising & Plumping Mask - An intensive moisturising mask to plump, soften and smooth all skin types

Do you suffer from dull, uneven and tired looking skin ? Well an instant radiance boost is what you need. Radiance face masks deeply cleanse, exfoliate and brighten dull, lifeless skin leaving skin glowing with natural radiance.

Why not try:

Life Radiance Flash Radiance Mask - A powerful, fast-acting mask to restore radiance to all skin types

If you have red and irritated skin , a face mask can be the perfect way to soothe, even the skin tone and stabilise.

Why not try:

Organic Harmonie Calm Soothing Comfort 2 in 1 Cream & Mask - an 100% natural 2 in 1 moisturiser and mask for sensitive skin.

Decleor's new ORGANIC range for sensitive skin: Harmonie Calm

Discover the Power of Essential Oils Through Our Decléor Top 5 Hero Routine | DECLÉOR UK

Is your skin lacking radiance?

Are you finding that you have dry/flaky patches?

Is your make-up not delivering the glow that you want?

Fear not, we can help guide you to make the jump from dull and tired skin to a glowing complexion with this step-by-step skincare routine.

STEP 1: CLEANSE

Regular cleansing keeps your pores clean and reduces the chance of breakouts or a dull complexion. Make sure to use a cleanser that keeps the skin hydrated and supple!

We recommend our Decléor Hero, Aroma Cleanse 3 in 1 Hydra-Radiance Cleansing Mousse. When in contact with water, this rich, concentrated cream quickly lathers to a mousse-like texture, creating tiny champagne bubbles that swiftly deep-cleanse and effectively remove make-up, whilst softening the skin to leave it clean and velvety soft.

STEP 2: PRIME

A serum is applied after cleansing and before applying moisturiser. These small but mighty products deliver targeted results for specific skincare needs. An oil mimics the build of your skin and can penetrate the dermis even deeper to deliver more effect results.

We recommend the Aromessence Neroli Amara Oil Serum. This 100% natural face oil serum gives skin a hit of hydration and a boost of radiance, whilst soothing the senses.Using only the highest grade of Essential Oils, and cold pressed Botanical Oils, the result is a fine, silky texture, non-sticky, non-shiny and easy to apply.

STEP 3: HYDRATE & PROTECT

One of the most important steps in your routine, however often the most neglected.Dry air, central heating, air conditioning and the daily aggressors can leave skin dry and dehydrated, dull and lifeless.Long-term neglect can also means that those fine lines creep their way to even deeper lines.Avoid the long term effects but ensuring you apply a moisturiser daily.

We recommend the NEW Hydra Floral Everfresh Hydrating Light Cream. Experience instantly visible results and the heavenly fragrance of Neroli Essential Oil with this light, fresh cream that ensures skin is kept perfectly hydrated for up to 24 hours and protected from pollution and free radicals.*

STEP 4: OVERNIGHT REPAIR

Your body goes into ‘repair mode’ at night, working hard to fix the damage caused during the day and ensuring that we wake up looking refreshed.Your skin is the largest organ in the body and acts exactly the same, working hard to naturally rejuvenate overnight. Applying a product that will help this process along will ensure that you wake-up looking your beautiful best.

We recommend the Aromessence Neroli Amara Hydrating Night Balm. Small but mighty, this tiny pot of wonder is all you need at night. The balm dissolves into the skin to comfort even the driest of skin, leaving you with a supple, soft, smooth and bright complexion when you wake up.

STEP 5: MASK, MASK, MASK

Masks are the prefect skin care treatment to help you with your skincare concerns. They blanket the skin, helping the active ingredients to penetrate even deeper.Giving your skin that extra boost doesn’t have to be a lengthy affair.

We recommend the Prolagene Lift Contouring Lift Firm Mask. With Iris Essential Oil, Iris Pallida, this natural origin mask combats the effects of time while preserving skin’s integrity. The skin reconnects with its firmness and elasticity, face contours are like lifted, wrinkles are smoothed. The skin radiates an intense glow.
