Why are Essential Oils used in skincare?
Essential Oils are 100% natural and have a natural affinity with the skin. They share a similar structure with the skin, hence the skin can recognise them and absorb rapidly. Once absorbed, Essential Oils travel into the deep layers of the skin. This allows them to treat a number of skin problems such as: slowing down oil production for oily skin, strengthening fragile skin or activating melanocytes to stimulate the tanning process to name a few.
Why do AROMESSENCE™ products have a yellow colour?
The Essential Oil is obtained from aromatic plants. Its colour varies from light yellow to orange, depending on the plant used. The yellow colour is also the natural colour of Plant Oils (hazelnut, wheat germ, etc).
What makes AROMESSENCE™ products non-comedogenic?
The AROMESSENCES™ are non-comedogenic since:
- Essential Oils have strong diffusing capacities thanks to their affinities with cutaneous lipids. In addition, they contain all of the specific properties of the plant from which they were extracted, in a highly concentrated form. They can be relaxing, purifying, energising or cleansing.
- AROMESSENCE™ products are composed of Essential Oils and Plant Oils. They contain absolutely no mineral oil, which tends to clog the skin’s pores.
Advantages of Plant Oils vs. mineral oils:
- Non-comedogenic, they don’t clog the pores
- The skin breathes more easily
- Do not dry out the skin
- Oils – derived from plants rather than minerals – provide elements such as vitamins and fatty acids, which are required in order for cells to function properly.
Can Essential Oils be used by pregnant women?
Essential Oils recognised as being harmful to pregnant women are prohibited in cosmetic products and therefore not used by DECLÉOR.
Thanks to our expertise and scientific hindsight, in particular regarding the concentration of Essential Oils in our products, there are no contraindications for pregnant women to use our products after their first trimester (excluding the SLIM EFFECT slimming range).
DECLÉOR products can therefore be used with confidence (except the SLIM EFFECT range).
Why should a person with oily skin use an AROMESSENCE™?
Essential Oils have the capacity to treat the skin deep down. For oily skin, the special blend of Essential Oils contained in the AROMESSENCE™ YLANG YLANG serum restores balanced sebum production while cleansing and purifying the skin to avoid imperfections. In addition, Essential Oils’ unparalleled diffusing capacity means that no oily veil is left on the skin.
Are Essential Oils compatible with the sun?
The Essential Oils used in DECLÉOR solar products, AROMA SUN EXPERT range, were specifically chosen for their unique properties and their compatibility with sun exposure:
- They increase cell viability when the skin is exposed to UVB rays and boost the skin’s protective capacities.
- The special blend of Damask Rose, Geranium and Camomile improve the action of melanocytes and optimally prepare the skin for sun exposure.
However, Essential Oils do not protect the skin from the sun. A product with an SPF protection must also be used.
